The government of India has designated Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh as the first “Har Ghar Jal” district in the country.
While congratulating the people of Madhya Pradesh on the achievement, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that the state is making rapid progress toward its goal of providing tap water to every household. Through the “Jal Jeevan Mission,” the Burhanpur district has achieved an unprecedented and proud feat of providing pure drinking water from taps to every household. Burhanpur has the distinction of being the country’s first “Har Ghar Jal” Certified district. All district residents and the district administration should be commended for their efforts.
Chouhan stated that Burhanpur has shown the country a new direction by providing water to every village. He went on to say that the “Jal Jeevan Mission” has provided tap water to more than 51 lakh 15 thousand rural families in the state. The “Har Ghar Jal” scheme provides water to all 254 villages in Burhanpur district. These villages have been designated as “Har Ghar Jal.” Chouhan thanked Prime Minister Modi, saying that because of his efforts, every citizen now has the right to live in dignity. The villagers’ lives are being instilled with joy.
