Mr. Anurag Thakur, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, has launched the Broadcast Seva Portal of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. This platform was inaugurated in New Delhi on April 4th, 2022.
Overview:
• The media and entertainment industries in the country are quickly expanding.
• It is expected to reach USD 30 billion in the next two years, up from USD 25 billion now.
• Over 1762 multi-service operators, over 900 satellite TV channels, over 380 FM channels, and 350 community radio stations are available in the country.
• The Make in India, Ease of Doing Business, and Digital India programmes are all supported by the Broadcast Seva Portal.
The objective of this portal
This portal will serve as a one-stop shop for all applicants and stakeholders who need to apply for various approvals, registrations, and licences given by the I&B Ministry for all broadcast-related activities.
This platform will create a transparent and effective mechanism for managing and growing the broadcast business in the country. This platform will also facilitate smooth communication between various stakeholders and candidates, as well as expedite application processing.
The services to be given
This portal will provide a database of news organisations, TV channels, OTT, TRP agencies, local cable operators, Digital Media, FM channels, DTH Operators, Multi-System Operators, community radio stations, Satellite TV Channels, user information systems, and HITS Operators.
Payment of annual permission fees for Teleports or TV Channels can also be made using this portal. Community radio stations will also benefit from the portal’s assistance. It will also assist with the registration procedure for Multi-System Operators and provide rules for the Temporary uplink of various live events.
