What is in the News?

On January 27, 2022, the Lok Sabha secretariat unveiled a new app called "Digital Sansad."

The Digital Sansad App

The digital sansad app was created to make it easier for citizens to keep track of what's going on in Parliament and with their legislators.

The app is compatible with both Android and iOS devices.
It contains all of the primary content of the Indian Parliament's interconnected portal.

App's Functions

For members, the app provides a 360-degree picture of legislative actions and services. Apart from current House proceedings, the app would let users to access historical material from all Lok Sabhas.
Speeches, debates, and other materials would also be available. The app includes information on budget speeches from 1947 to the present, as well as House debates from the 12th to the 17th Lok Sabha. It will also include a live broadcast of the Sansad proceedings. This App also allows you to view the 2022 Budget Session live.

How would this app assist Members of Parliament?

Members of parliament will be able to use the app to check personal information such as House bulletins, the status of their notifications, and so on.
Laptops are not permitted inside the House of Commons. As a result, MPs will find this app useful for getting parliamentary information during any debate in the House.
MPs will be able to use this app to log in for attendance, ask questions during Question Hour, and submit notices for debates or adjournment motions in the future.
