TERI and REMC to collaborate to create Indian Railways’ green projects

For the development of Indian Railways’ green projects, REMC will work in conjunction with the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). REMC is a joint venture of the Ministry of Railways and RITES Ltd.

In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that the two organisations signed on August 1, they want to cooperate together on projects involving energy efficiency, green building, performance audits, and railway net-zero targets.

In a statement, TERI stated that it would work with REMC to create and build capacity for renewable energy projects for the Indian Railways. It continued, “The focus would also be to develop the technical and sustainability capacities of the railway personnel. The collaboration would advance the decarbonization strategy of REMC and the Ministry of Railways, according to Vibha Dhawan, Director General of TERI, who noted that the railways have a crucial role to play in the nation’s efforts to cut emissions.

“In its endeavour of energy transition and to achieve the set targets of Indian Railways on decarbonisation, a net zero carbon emitter by 2030, the association and competency of TERI with their research and analytical work would certainly merit us for deliverance with proficiency,” Ajay Kumar Singhal, CEO of REMC, said.

TERI is an independent research organisation working in the areas of policy research, technology development, and implementation.
