World Nature Conservation Day: History, Significance and Theme of 2022



Every year on July 28th, different countries around the world observe World Nature Conservation Day. It is observed to raise public awareness about the importance of natural resource conservation. On this day, the significance of natural conservation is explained. Today, nature faces numerous challenges, including climate change, global warming, deforestation, illegal wildlife trade, pollution, plastics, and so on.

On this day, special awareness campaigns are held around the world to encourage people to recognise that a clean environment is the foundation of a healthy and stable human society. The main goal of World Nature Conservation Day is to save animals and trees that are on the verge of extinction in the earth’s natural environment. As a result, it is everyone’s responsibility to preserve nature.

History of World Nature Conservation Day

The origins of World Nature Conservation Day are unknown. But it has only one goal: to gather on July 28th and work for environmental protection. In fact, we are currently dealing with a slew of issues as a result of natural imbalance. Global warming, various diseases, natural disasters, rising temperatures, and other factors are among them. If nature is not protected, no one will be able to save the planet from destruction. Its side effects are only now becoming apparent.

Significance of World Nature Conservation Day

The goal of this day is to lay the groundwork for a healthy environment, so that our society can remain stable and productive today and in the future. Along with this, people should understand that while exploiting nature, they have a responsibility to current and future generations. It is also critical to understand what we can do to fulfil this responsibility.

Nature conservation is critical for all humans and their survival on Earth. Humanity is responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment because the earth provides all of the necessities for life, including water, air, trees, animals, food, soil, and minerals.

Theme of World Nature Conservation Day 2022

“Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet” is the theme of World Nature Conservation Day 2022. This topic is primarily concerned with the sustainable use of nature by humans for human purposes, conservation, mining, and hunting.
