The Indian government has launched a new series of mobile games to highlight India’s freedom struggle. Anurag Thakur, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, announced the ‘Azadi Quest’ games in Delhi on August 24.

About Azadi Quest’ games

The games were created in collaboration with Zynga India as part of the Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations commemorating 75 years of independence. The first two games in the series will highlight key milestones and heroes of the liberation struggle while also incorporating a fun game. While announcing the games, Thakur stated that the goal is to educate the vast market of online gamers. Various government agencies have gathered information about unsung freedom fighters from all over the country. “Azadi Quest is an effort to make knowledge learning engaging and interactive,” Thakur was quoted as saying.

India is among top 5 countries in gaming sector

The Azadi Quest games are available in Hindi and English for both Android and iOS users to download. The games will be available worldwide beginning in September 2022. According to the Union Minister, India has risen to be one of the top five countries in the gaming sector. The sector is expected to grow by approximately 28% in 2021, with the number of gamers reaching 45 crores by 2023.

According to a statement from the I&B Ministry, the initiative follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to stakeholders to create games and toys that highlight the stories and milestones of India’s freedom struggle. According to Kishore Kichli, country head of Zynga India, the games are designed to engage players of all ages while harnessing the power of interactive entertainment as a teaching experience about this historic era.
