On July 4, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) released rules to stop unfair business practises and safeguard consumers' interests regarding the imposition of service charges in hotels and restaurants.
Consumers are not bind to pay service charge at restaurants, it’s voluntary payment
Payment of `service charge` at restaurants is a voluntary act depending on the discretion of consumers. Restaurants cannot force consumers to pay service charges, said the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution.
