On January 16, 2022, India’s Lakshya Sen won his first Super 500 championship by winning the “Yonex-Sunrise India Open.”

The final of the doubles

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated three-time world champions Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan from Indonesia in the doubles final. The two are the first men’s team from India to win the Yonex-Sunrise India Open. In Thailand, the world no. 10 Indian duo won their first Super 500 tournament of the year.

India Open

The India Open is an annual badminton tournament held in India. Since 2008, it has been held in India. It’s an international badminton tournament on the BWF World Tour Super 500 Grade. The event was first held in Hyderabad in 2007, but was postponed due to the explosions in the city. The India Open was categorised as a Grand Prix Gold tournament for the first three seasons. In 2011, it was upgraded to a BWF superseries tournament. The event was conducted yearly at the Siri Fort Sports Complex in New Delhi from 2011 to 2019. Since 2018, the BWF has classified the India Open as one of seven BWF World Tour Super 500 events.

World Federation of Badminton (BWF)

The World Federation of Badminton, BWF is the worldwide governing body for badminton, as recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
The International Badminton Federation (IBF) was created in 1934 and consists of nine member countries: Canada, England, Denmark, Ireland, France, New Zealand, Netherlands, Wales, and Scotland.
In 1981, the International Badminton Federation united with the World Badminton Federation, and in September 2006, the name was changed to Badminton World Federation.
