For the first time in its 100-year history, the Rashtriya Indian Military College will admit female cadets in July 2022.
On March 12, 2022, Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (retd) announced that five female cadets would be joining RIMC. He also expressed the expectation that it would result in a
significant transformation.
RIMC Commandant Col Ajay Kumar revealed at the Rashtriya Indian Military College’s Centennial Founder’s Day Celebration, which was attended by over 500 alumni, that after the government opened the doors of the National Defence Academy (NDA) to women, RIMC has chosen to follow suit. In July 2022, the institute will accept 5 female students.

Five female cadets will enroll the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in July, and I am hopeful that this will result in a significant transformation. RIMC has made all of the necessary preparations. Women will make history as leaders in the Armed Forces: Governor of Uttarakhand, Gurmit Singh, is in Dehradun.
COAS Gen Manoj Mukund Naravane expresses gratitude to the RIMC
Gen Manoj Mukund Naravane, the Chief of Army Staff, praised and thanked the Rashtriya Indian Military College and its alumni for their service to the country over the previous 100 years.
General Naravane also expressed confidence in RIMC’s preparations for the five female cadets’ arrival and integration into the distinguished institution. He also mentioned that the college’s centenary year will be highlighted by the arrival of female students.

RIMC will admit 5 female cadets
According to the RIMC Commandant, a total of 568 girls from around the country took an entrance exam for five places.
Before deciding to admit female cadets, the institute organized a committee to evaluate both tangible and intangible elements, as well as make the required improvements to the institute to make it fit for female pupils.

Admission to the Rashtriya Indian Military College
The erstwhile British-Indian government created the Rashtriya Indian Military College on March 13, 1992. The purpose of RIMC was to provide military training to Indian adolescents so that they might eventually be admitted as military officers in the British-Indian Army.
Since its founding, Rashtriya Indian Military College has only trained boys and served as a feeder college for the National Defense Academy and the Naval Academy.
