If someone truly wants to achieve anything, they will find a way to do it; all that is required is determination. An undertrial inmate in Bihar’s Nawada sub-jail has cleared the Joint entrance examination for Masters (JAM). The exam is held by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in New Delhi. At the national level, the prisoner was ranked 54th. According to the reports, the convict, Suraj Kumar Yadav, aspires to be a scientist and contribute to national progress.

Suraj is accused of murder charges and is apprehended. On the other hand, Suraj isn’t ruminating on the ups and downs of his life. He is optimistic that he will be acquitted soon and plans to enroll at IIT-Roorkee as soon as he is released.

Accused with murder charges

The young man, Suraj was arrested on the murder charges of Sanjay Yadav, a co-villager and neighbor. Birendra Yadav, his older brother, has also been held in Nawada in a similar case since April 2021.

According to the reports, Suraj’s father, Arjun Yadav, and Sanjay’s father, Baso Yadav, have had a long-running feud over a local drain. Sanjay was murdered as a result of the conflict. Suraj’s involvement in the tragedy, however, has been refuted by Renu Devi, the village chief, who claims that the young guy was implicated in the case.

Desires to join IIT- Roorkee

Suraj had been preparing for the exam for a long time before the incident took place. He aspires to join IIT-Roorkee once he gets released from jail. Suraj prepared for the entrance examination in Kota, Rajasthan, before being apprehended. He had returned to his native village Mosma after the statewide lockdown caused by COVID-19 last year. In this period only, the incident took place.

Authorities helped him with preparations

Suraj’s significant interest in education had piqued the attention of Nawada prison superintendent Abhishek Pandey, who urged him to sit for the exam. Pandey had also provided the convict with the study material he required. The superintendent made special arrangements for Suraj’s lunch and personally assisted him through the exam. The court granted him a month’s parole to appear for the examination.
