DISTRICT GOOD GOVERNANCE INDEX SAYS PULWAMA IS THE TOP PERFORMING DISTRICT IN THE KASHMIR VALLEY

The Jammu and Kashmir District Good Governance Index symbolizes Next Generation Administrative Reform in Benchmarking Governance at the District Level, according to government statistics. It was drafted following considerable stakeholder participation. The District Good Governance Index of Jammu and Kashmir assists in determining the impact of various governance initiatives at the district level and provides a future-oriented roadmap for enhancing district-level governance through focused interventions.

The Good Governance Index

“Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the Good Governance Index at district level in Jammu and Kashmir, making it the first Union territory in the country.” In the Good Governance Index, Pulwama has been placed first in Kashmir valley. The different parameters

The Deputy Commissioner of Pulwama stated that the rating is based on an overall evaluation of many characteristics in the region, such as the state of public infrastructure, healthcare, and social infrastructure.

“Public infrastructure, healthcare, social infrastructure, the influence of centrally sponsored projects in the region, youth engagement in activities, and the means of handling public grievances are some of the parameters that contribute define a district’s place in the index.” Choudhary explained that the rating is based on an overall evaluation of characteristics.

“Pulwama is the leading producer of almonds,” he noted. Following the contribution of the Pulwama area, Kashmir saffron has been designated as a Geographical Indication (GI). Youth participation in various developmental initiatives is also present.”
