What’s the news?

The woman that can be seen driving the bus in the viral video is Yogita Dharmendra Satav. The 42-year-old homemaker, bravely took the wheel of a 20-seater minibus for the first time in her life after the bus driver fell unconscious. The brave act took place near Pune, Maharashtra, where a group of women went on a picnic to Morachi Chincholi in Wagholi. She took over the wheel and drove the bus after a 40-year-old driver exhibited signs of having a seizure. While returning from the location, the incident occurred.

The complete incident

Yogita Satav along with the group of female friends and children went to the picnic. While returning the driver suffered two seizures and came to a halt in an unknown location. Everyone on the bus became anxious as they watched him lose his senses, with the children crying in fear. This is when Yogita Satav, acting as a sort of messiah, decided to take over the wheel. After driving the bus for 10 kilometers, they arrived at Ganegaon Khalsa, where the driver was given the primary medical treatment.

The courageous act

In an interview, Yogita stated “He claimed to be dizzy and unable to see anything… he was speaking incoherently. He was driving the bus erratically… Everyone on the bus began to scream… Some of the women were sobbing. I was sitting directly behind the driver. I approached him and inquired as to what was wrong. He barely managed to tell me that he was sick. I told him that if he had trouble driving the bus, I would steer it for him”

She further said, “I am a civil engineering graduate. I’ve been driving small cars like the Maruti Celerio, Accent, and Omini Van for the last twenty years or so. This is the first time I’ve driven a large vehicle, such as a minibus.”

Initially, she faced several issues while driving the bus as it was the first time she took over the bus seat. However, after some trial and error, she was able to shift into first gear and slowly drive the mini-bus to Surya Hospital.
