In the heart of Satna, Madhya Pradesh, resides a modern-day ‘Mother Teresa,’ Sonia Jauli, who has taken on the responsibility of nurturing and guiding 130 girls towards a brighter future. Beyond the popular slogan of “Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child,” Sonia’s actions resonate deeply, embodying true empowerment and change.
A Mission Rooted in Love
With a heart full of compassion, Sonia Jauli, often referred to as the ‘Mother Teresa’ of Satna, took it upon herself to uplift 130 girls and provide them with opportunities they deserve. Every morning at the ‘Upkaar Hum Hain Society,’ girls gather to learn and grow under her loving guidance. With a vision to secure a better life for these girls, Sonia has laid a foundation that extends far beyond traditional education.
Sonia’s efforts reach beyond academics. Not only does she ensure quality education for the girls, but she also teaches them life skills. The girls at the society learn sewing, embroidery, and even participate in beauty classes. These skills equip them for self-sufficiency and independence, turning them into capable individuals ready to face the world.
A Beacon of Hope and Change
Sonia’s journey began with a heartfelt desire to make a difference. She witnessed the struggles of underprivileged girls and recognized the need for real change. Her ‘Upkaar Hum Hain Society’ commenced with just six girls in 2014 and has now blossomed into a sanctuary for 130 girls seeking knowledge, guidance, and a better life.
Sonia’s dedication extends to ensuring that every girl’s dreams come true. From providing tuition and school uniforms to offering financial support for education, Sonia embraces every challenge to ensure the girls’ welfare. “I manage all the arrangements myself. I start each day with a new challenge, but by evening, I find solutions for all of them. I handle everything here,” Sonia remarks with a smile.
The Power of Community
Sonia’s efforts are supported by a community of 65 members, each contributing Rs 500 per month. This collective effort helps provide stationary supplies for the entire year, relieving the financial burden of the families. With the community’s support, Sonia has been able to maintain a nurturing environment for the girls.
From Dreams to Reality
Sonia’s dream of educating and empowering girls continues to thrive. As the society’s youngest member at two and a half years old, the girls look up to Sonia as a mentor and guide. As she diligently nurtures them, these girls grow with a sense of belonging, knowing that they have a guardian who truly cares for their well-being.
Sonia Jauli, the ‘Mother Teresa’ of Satna, has transformed lives through her dedication, compassion, and tireless efforts. With an unwavering commitment to empowering girls and securing their futures, she stands as a beacon of hope, proving that one person’s determination can bring about meaningful change in the lives of many.
