India Innovation Index 2021 report
Niti Aayog released the India Innovation Index 2021 report in New Delhi on July 21. According to officials, UP scored highest in business environment, high cluster strength, and significant share of manufacturing and service sector as a percentage of gross state domestic product (GSDP).
The state has risen to the top five in the knowledge-output pillar. According to them, the high score is due to an increase in startups and new businesses.
Create an innovation-friendly environment
Innovation-led entrepreneurship is critical to the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ programmes, and the state is determined to create an innovation-friendly environment to boost startups, manufacturing, and services, according to Abhishek Prakash, Chief Executive Officer of Invest UP.
Due to a high share of ICT exports, high-tech exports, and citations, Uttar Pradesh scored higher than the national average of 5.81 in Knowledge Diffusion, he said.
Knowledge Diffusion denotes the state’s capacity for knowledge absorption, which has two sub-pillars: knowledge dissemination and creative goods and services.
The Niti Aayog and the Institute for Competitiveness’ India Innovation Index is an assessment framework that ranks states and union territories based on their innovation performance.
The third edition of the index, released on July 21, highlighted the breadth of innovation analysis in the country by drawing on the Global Innovation Index framework.
