The ‘Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of NITI Aayog, in collaboration with the US Agency for International Development(USAID), announced the Sustainable Access to Markets and Resources for Innovative Healthcare Delivery (SAMRIDH) initiative .
SAMRIDH Initiative Background
This new alliance will increase vulnerable populations’ access to high-quality, affordable healthcare in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, as well as rural and tribal areas.
In 2020, USAID, IPE Global, and stakeholders from the Indian government, corporate industry, and academia created the SAMRIDH blended finance facility, which combines philanthropy and governmental funds with commercial capital to innovate and grow market-based health solutions quickly.
SAMRIDH’s efforts to reach vulnerable people will be aided by this relationship, which will take advantage of AIM’s expertise in innovation and entrepreneurship.
AIM and SAMRIDH will use public resources and charitable money to help small and medium-sized businesses invest in and grow healthcare solutions by removing barriers to commercial investment.
Concentrate on new ideas
This collaboration will also focus on healthcare innovation, with the unifying goal of mounting an effective response to the ongoing third wave of COVID-19.
It will also improve health-care system readiness in the event of future health-care emergencies or infectious disease epidemics.
The Atal Innovation Mission and SAMRIDH will seek solutions from innovators and entrepreneurs on subjects such as improving diagnostic goods and services, strengthening healthcare infrastructure, and enhancing the capability of healthcare personnel.
It will also emphasize support for healthcare workers and patients recovering from the COVID-19 epidemic, with a focus on mental health solutions.
SAMRIDH Initiative’s Importance
With long-term commercial innovations and solutions, the SAMRIDH initiative will aid in the building of India’s health systems.
This partnership will also share Atal Innovation Mission and USAID’s aim to using new funding options to increase investment in healthcare services.
