NITI Aayog Health Index 2021

NITI Aayog has recently released health index 2021 . Kerala retained its top position among the bigger states on the NITI Aayog health index 2021, while Uttar Pradesh remained the last.
NITI Aayog Health Index 2021: On December 27, 2021, NITI Aayog launched the fourth edition of its state health index for 2019-20. The report, titled "Healthy States, Progressive India," rates states and Union Territories based on their health and general performance over the previous year.

Kerala remained the healthiest of the bigger states. Mizoram came out on top among smaller states in terms of health, while Nagaland came in worst. Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu and Chandigarh were placed first and second, respectively, among union territories, and Andaman and Nicobar was ranked last.
The fourth edition of the Health Index focuses on states' and UTs' overall performance and incremental growth from 2018-2019 to 2019-20. The health index is a weighted composite score made up of 24 variables that encompass various elements of health.

Background

NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Dr.Rajiv Kumar, CEO Amitabh Kant, Additional Secretary Dr.Rakesh Sarwal, and World Bank Senior Health Specialist Sheena Chhabra jointly announced the NITI Aayog Health Index 2021. The report was released by NITI Aayog with technical assistance from the World Bank and in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

2021 NITI Aayog Health Index

The NITI Aayog Health Index 2021 is an annual tool that evaluates state and UT health performance. The index tracks 24 indicators organized into three domains: 'Health Outcomes,' 'Governance and Information,' and 'Key Inputs/Processes.' Each domain is given a certain amount of weight.

To ensure comparison across similar entities, the Health Index rating is divided into three parts: larger states, smaller states, and union territories.
