Two more Indian beaches added the feather to the crown of India’s natural beauty. India’s tireless efforts and unwavering dedication to the conservation of pristine marine ecosystems recently achieved global certification. Kovalam beach in Tamil Nadu & Eden beach in Puducherry have received “Blue Flag” certification, which is an international eco-level tag. This certification has carved another milestone in our journey towards a clean and green India. These beaches have received this certification for the clean and well managed beaches as per the globally recognized standards. After which the tally of Indian beaches that have received ’ blue flag certification’ rises to ten.
What does Blue Flag certification mean?
The ‘Foundation for Environment Education ‘ awards the ’Blue Flag certification’. It is a non-profit organization based in Denmark that sets stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria that applicants must meet and maintain. Blue flag certification is a globally recognized eco-label, which a country receives after fulfilling all the 33 stringent criteria set by the foundation. It is given to beaches and marinas in FEE member countries on an annual basis.
