The Indian government launched the “Veer Gatha Project” as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a series of festivities commemorating India’s 75th anniversary of independence.

What exactly is the Veer Gatha Project?

The Veer Gatha project was created to encourage Indian schoolchildren by sharing stories of military heroes and heroic hearts. This project’s winners were chosen from a pool of 25 students. Students were encouraged to participate in activities and projects based on the winners of gallantry awards. This project took place in India from October 21, 2021 to November 21, 2021.

Which ministry was in charge of the project?

The Ministry of Education, Department of School Education and Literacy, and the Central Board of Secondary Education collaborated on the Veer Gatha Project (CBSE).

What was the total number of students who took part in the project?

More than 8,03,900 students from 4,788 schools around the country participated in the Veer Gatha project. In honour of Bravehearts, students submitted essays, paintings, poems, and multimedia presentations.

Mahotsav Azadi Ka Amrit

It is a government of India endeavour to recognise and celebrate 75 years of progressive India, as well as India’s great heritage of people, culture, and achievements. The Mahotsav is devoted to the Indian people who have played a key role in bringing India this far. On March 12, 2021, the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” began and will end on August 15, 2022.

Importance of this project ?

“Veer Gatha is a one-of-a-kind project that was created to inspire our country’s schoolchildren with stories of military heroes and strong hearts, and it has received a wonderful reaction from all around the country.”

The Ministry of Defence has envisioned that school pupils may be motivated to perform projects and activities based on gallantry award recipients for the first time as part of Republic Day celebrations,” said an official statement from the Ministry of Education.
