Namo Bharat– PM inaugurates Delhi’s first Rapid Train

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Delhi’s first Namo Bharat train.

The Delhi section of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), marks a significant milestone in the development of the Namo Bharat trains. It is a 13-km stretch from Sahibabad (Uttar Pradesh) to New Ashok Nagar in Delhi.

It is a significant development that marks a milestone in regional connectivity. The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was built at an estimated cost of Rs 4,600 crore.

This is an extension to the existing Namo Bharat Corridor, which now spans 55 km, connecting New Ashok Nagar in Delhi to Meerut South with a total of 11 stations.

Delhi-Meerut in 40 mins

Delhi’s first Namo Bharat high-speed train service is a game-changer in the region’s transportation landscape. This advanced train network is designed to drastically cut travel time between Delhi and Meerut to under 40 minutes, making daily commutes faster and more convenient for millions of people. The new service promises to significantly reduce congestion on roads, ease traffic, and provide a reliable, time-efficient alternative to traditional modes of transport, enhancing connectivity within the National Capital Region (NCR).

Anand Vihar -Meerut South in 35 mins

Anand Vihar underground station, being the largest station on the Namo Bharat corridor. This key station is set to become a major hub for commuters, offering enhanced connectivity. From Anand Vihar, passengers can travel to Meerut South in just 35 minutes, significantly reducing travel time compared to conventional transportation methods.

Namo Bharat is comfort and convenience

train is equipped with a range of modern amenities aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and convenience. These include phone charging points, luggage storage, a dedicated women’s coach for added safety and comfort, and a premium coach for those seeking a more luxurious experience. The fare for the stretch between New Delhi and Meerut has been set at Rs 150, making it an affordable option for commuters while offering high-quality services and modern facilities. This initiative promises to improve the overall travel experience for millions of passengers in the region.

PM takes the first ride

During PM’s ride on the first Namo Bharat train, he purchased a smart ticket. He interestingly interacted with passengers on board, and engaged with schoolchildren. The children were excited and recited poems and presented sketches to him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took the opportunity to view an exhibition showcasing the construction of the Namo Bharat train network. During the exhibition, he was presented with a model of the train by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), highlighting the scale and technical advancements involved in the project. The exhibition provided insight into the planning, design, and engineering efforts that went into developing the high-speed rail system, further emphasizing the significance of the project in improving regional connectivity.
