The food makes travelling by train even more interesting. We have a plethora of options, from local vendors selling chai and samosa to rajma chawal and noodles, including the pantry service managed by IRCTC. The thali is suitable for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. But what if the train serves only vegetarian food? It is now true!
According to reports in the media, the Vande Bharat Express from Delhi to Katra in Jammu and Kashmir will only serve vegetarian food. It has been reported that during this long journey, passengers will only be able to enjoy the taste of vegetarian food, with no meat or eggs served.
If you think this train is only about vegetarian food, think again. Even the kitchens used for preparation will only have vegetarian ingredients, and the waiters will not handle any non-vegetarian food.
According to reports, this train is the first of its kind to receive a Sattvik certificate as part of an agreement between the Indian railways authority IRCTC and the NGO Sattvic Council of India. According to a Sattvic Council of India analyst, there are plans to replicate this in 18 more trains across India.
The council’s founder, Abhishek Biswas, told that several factors are considered before granting the certificate. These elements include cooking techniques, kitchens, serving and storage vessels, and storage methods.
