Bengaluru civic body will offer poor children tuition from Aug 15

In collaboration with non-governmental organisations, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will begin a new programme on August 15 in which it would offer tuition to underprivileged students enrolled in the third and fifth standards.

The concept will be introduced as a pilot under the “Vidyarthi Belaku Adhyayana Kendra” programme in several locations throughout Bengaluru. The hours of instruction will be from 5.30 to 7 p.m.

Goal to give kids from low-income families more learning chances

The project’s goal is to give kids from low-income families and slums more learning chances, training, help with their homework, and opportunities to expand their skill sets.

The goal would now be served by using the classrooms of BBMP schools, according to Ram Prasat Manohar, Commissioner of the BBMP Welfare Department. The ability to oversee tuition centres will be granted to regional NGOs.

Students will receive the tools and study resources they need from various NGOs. The pupils will be taught by and guided by the young people who have graduated.

These boys and girls will receive an honorarium of Rs 1,500 from the BBMP. Each tuition centre may hold between 20 and 30 pupils. Participants may be students enrolled in BBMP programmes or government institutions managed by the Education department.
