Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, launched a scheme on July 21 to provide cashless medical services to more than 75 lakh people, including 22 lakh state government employees, pensioners, and their dependents.
According to a government statement, eligible people will receive cashless medical services at government-run institutions, medical colleges, and hospitals under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya State Employees Cashless Medical Scheme.
In addition, hospitals empaneled under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme will be able to provide cashless medical services up to Rs 5 lakh. The CM announced the scheme at an event in Lucknow, saying that eligible employees and pensioners would be given a State Health Card.
Medical insurance of 5 lakh to poor families
According to him, an action plan should be developed so that they can download their State Health Card on their own and benefit from cashless medical treatment in government or accredited hospitals. According to an official statement, the CM stated that medical insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh is provided to poor families under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’ and Ayushman Bharat.
According to the CM, Antyodaya (poorest of the poor) families in the state are receiving medical insurance coverage worth Rs 5 lakh through the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana. A medical insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh is also provided to registered Construction Workers Welfare Board workers, he added.
Adityanath stated that during his previous tenure, his government directed the relevant department to develop an action plan to provide cashless medical services to state government employees.
