AP Govt adding more treatments to Aarogyasri Program and Introducing Family Doctor Concept



Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan directed health department officials to increase the number of Arogyasri treatments and make them available beginning August 1 and to phase in the family doctor concept beginning August 15.

During a review meeting with Health Department officials, the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of providing digital video connectivity to village clinics and PHCs, as well as virtual bank accounts to Arogyasri beneficiaries for directly crediting the amount into the patient’s account, which would then be directed to the hospital’s account.

Hospitals must obtain a consent form

He stated that hospitals must obtain a consent form prior to admitting the patient and a declaration form prior to discharging the patient, both of which must include details about the treatment, government assistance, and Aarogya Aasara. He directed that the toll-free number 14400 or 104 be included in the declaration form for filing complaints about additional fees or bribery.

The CM instructed the officials to send health personnel to enquire about the health condition of the discharged person and submit feedback on the services provided to the patient. He also ordered the officials to focus on preventing bribery incidents in 108 and 104 services and told them to display the ACB toll-free numbers on the vehicles.

CM asked to speed up covid vaccination process

Reviewing covid conditions in the State, the Chief Minister asked them to speed up the vaccination process, especially for those aged above 60 years, as the duration of precaution dose was reduced. In this regard, the officials informed him that the covid situation is completely under control, where only a few cases are getting registered.

According to officials, only 69 people have been admitted to hospitals and are all recovering. In terms of vaccination, they stated that 87.15 percent of people received precautionary doses, 99.69 percent of those aged 15 to 17 received two doses, and 98.93 percent of those aged 12 to 14 received the second dose.

Recruitment of staff by end of July

In addition, after reviewing the recruitment of staff in the health sector, Chief Minister Jagan Reddy directed the authorities to complete the process by the end of July and stated that there should be an adequate number of doctors and staff from the primary health centre to the teaching hospital, with no gaps. Since 2019, 40,476 positions have been filled in the state, according to officials. In addition, he directed them to expedite the construction of 16 new medical colleges and plan accordingly to begin classes as soon as possible.
