India dominated the Group C tie for the majority of the time
Srikanth Kidambi, the former World No. 1, began the match against Brian Yang. The first game was a close call, with Yang winning 22-20. However, things were more one-sided in the second game, as Kidambi won 21-11 to force a decider. Kidambi won the match by a score of 21-15 over Yang in the final game.
Then Jason Anthony Ho-Shue and Kevin Lee were up against Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy.
The Indian duo completely dominated the Canadian pair in the first game, winning 21-12
After winning the second game 21-11, the Indians sealed the match. HS Prannoy faced off against BR Sankeerth in the tie’s next match. The first game was won by Prannoy, 21-15, over Sankeerth. Later in the second game, Prannoy defeated Sankeerth 21-12 to give India a 2-2 tie.
The fourth match pits Krishna Prasad and Vishnuvardhan of India against Adam Dong and Yakura Nyl of Sweden. Krishna Prasad-Vishnuvardhan walked away with a comfortable 21-15,21-11 victory.
Priyanshu Rajawat faced Victor Lai in the fifth match. Priyanshu won the first game 21-13, but Lai evened things up in the second round with a 20-22 victory. Priyanshu, a 20-year-old, came back in the decider to defeat Lai 21-14 and give India a 5-0 win over Canada in the Thomas Cup Group C match.
With their impressive performance in their second group match, the Indian team, which conquered Germany 5-0 on Sunday, is certain to finish in the top two in Group C and thus qualify for the BWF Thomas Cup 2022 quarter-finals.
