Subsidy given to the owners
Under the Electric Vehicle Policy, the Delhi government has given subsidy to around 59 percent of the owners of 1, 39,945 registered electric vehicles in the state. The Transport Department provided this information in a written response to a question posed by MLA Ajay Mahawar in the Delhi Assembly last month. According to the agency, 57,796 owners of qualifying electric vehicles were denied a subsidy for a
variety of reasons.
Due to the vehicles’ non-eligibility under the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy and the owners’ non-submission of the required documents, these vehicle owners have not received a subsidy. The government noted that in certain circumstances, the subsidy was not given due to the owners of electric vehicles failing to apply. The Delhi government has assured that all eligible EV owners will be provided the subsidy soon.
