Tata 1mg begins drone delivery of medications in Dehradun

Tata 1mg rolls out a drone delivery service in Dehradun, offering home delivery of medicines and medical sample collection at the door. Here are the specifics.

Tata 1mg has launched a drone delivery service in Dehradun to expedite the delivery of diagnostic samples and medication by air. The new service will save time by avoiding traffic bottlenecks and would make it easier to supply medical aid in remote places. On 1st December 2022, the digital health platform inaugurated a drone delivery service in the city, together with three Tata 1mg integrated pharmacy and diagnostics outlets, to provide speedier delivery and medical help in the city and surrounding areas.

According to an official media announcement, the business intends to expand its medical and drone delivery services to other cities in Uttarakhand, including Haridwar, Mussoorie, and Rishikesh.

Tata 1mg Collaborates with TSAW Drones

Notably, Tata 1mg has collaborated with TSAW Drones, one of India’s premier drone logistics service providers, to carry out the activities. The corporation will use drones as delivery partners to transport medicines or gather medical samples from various locations throughout the city. The drones will then be directed to take the collected medical samples to the city’s Tata 1mg lab for medical processing.

In addition, the firm has revealed plans to carry medicines to outlying sections of the city. A single drone for these services is believed to be capable of transporting up to 150 samples at the same time.

Drone delivery facilities are significantly faster, more efficient, ecologically friendly, decrease expenses, and enable early and simpler access to inaccessible places. Other delivery companies, such as Swiggy, Zomato, and Dunzo, have previously declared ambitions to begin drone delivery services in India.

Zomato even conducted food delivery tests with drones carrying a 5 kg payload that travelled 5 kilometres in 10 minutes. Swiggy, on the other hand, recently shortlisted four drone startups to launch its grocery delivery project in Bengaluru and Delhi-NCR.
