Sourav Ganguly, fondly known as “Dada,” is a legendary figure in the world of cricket. The full name of Saurav Ganguly is Sourav Chandidas Ganguly. He was born on 8th July 1972 in Calcutta.

Ganguly is the first player to smack 3 centuries in Champions Trophy history.

Sourav Ganguly is the only player to get four consecutive awards in ODIs, he accomplished the feat in 1997.

The Indian Government bestowed him the prestigious “Padma Shri” award in 2004. In 2013, the government of West Bengal conferred him the “Banga Bibhusan Award” in 2013.

The Govt of West Bengal named a road after his name in Rajarhat Gopalpur, (Sourav Ganguly Avenue) for his illustrious career as a cricketer.

Sourav Ganguly, though naturally right-handed, held the bat left-handed to use his elder brother’s kit, who was left-handed. This decision shaped Ganguly’s cricketing journey and set him on a path to become one of India’s greatest cricket captains.

Sourav Ganguly Avenue, a 1.5 km road in Rajarhat, West Bengal, was unveiled by Sourav Ganguly himself at a ceremony organized by the Rajarhat Gopalpur Municipality. 

The road was renamed in honour of the legendary cricketer.
