What is in the News?
The Prama Vishisht Seva Medal was presented to Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra. Neeraj Chopra made India famous by becoming the country’s first athlete to win a gold medal. Chopra earned a gold medal in the 87.58 metre javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics. The prize will be given to 18 other people in addition to Neeraj Chopra.
Chopra’s achievements
In 2018, Chopra was given the Arjuna award. He received the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2020. Chopra joined the Rajputana Rifles as a Naib Subedar in 2016. He was a member of the Army Sports Institute’s Mission Olympics Wing, which was based in Pune. The Indian Army’s Mission Olympics Wing was created as a result of their efforts. The army recognised qualified athletes in the army and trained them in several sports disciplines as part of the effort. They competed in both national and international events.

Medal of Param Vishisht Seva
