Indian Women Ice Hockey team – Cinderellas without their fairy godmother

The road to success was not easy for the first-ever Indian ice-hockey team. The twenty girls who created history now belong to the list of the top national women’s hockey teams.

These girls are still in their mid and late teens. They are not only brilliant, laborious, outstanding, and maddening but are also creating history on the world map of international sports. They are serious underdogs and are the best in the Indian ice hockey league. They are ironically known as the Cinderellas of India.

India’s proud girls, these hockey players are the reputation, dignity, and fulfillment of the 1.4 billion Indian people. Let’s meet them one by one:-

bilingual and has very little knowledge and fluency in Hindi. She is one of those strongest Cinderallas who have changed the women’s games in India.
She is happy and overwhelmed that her father is in full support of her career choice. However, she does not want to be a burden to her parents. She wants to make her name and nail her talent independently.

She believes that India today needs them but they are waiting for the 1.4 billion people to welcome them with open arms. In the heart of the Himalayan range, they are practicing and creating the trails of future historic games.

Noor Jahan

The goaltender brilliant Jahan is multilingual. She feels that the future of female ice hockey is still foggy. Even her family and relatives find it to be a risky career choice. However, Jahan was always bold enough to believe in herself. Being one of the Cinderellas, she brought the team to the highest level.

Diskit Angmo 

The defender of the team reveals the sad truth of the absence of a hockey rink. She says that they practice on a frozen lake in Leh which is both risky and saddening. Yet these adversities made them the winners in the international women’s ice hockey field.

These girls need our support to be known as the powerpuff girls of Indian ice hockey. These women are fighters and are self-promoting and raising funds to participate at the international level. They are self-made self-build players and are never going to back down no matter what.

Rinchen Dolma

The Captain of the team feels that their immense hard work and dedication have brought them to the world map. It was a difficult journey for them. They didn’t even have a proper professional coach to train them on the international level. According to Dolma, they didn’t even get to train the whole year.

A woman determined to take the team to the highest level, the only Hindi-speaking player in the team, had a lack of playing equipment on their initial days. The Ladakh Women’s Ice Hockey Foundation was not able to provide them with all the high-end shoes and sports equipment.

As a result, the team borrowed all the playing equipment from the men’s hockey team. However, according to her testimony, the girls never stopped practicing.

Kunzes Angmo

 The Assistant captain of the team feels the lack of sponsors is one of the reasons behind them getting such slow and late recognition. Ice hockey is not popular in India, so very few people and brands show interest in it. Most importantly, Indian women’s ice hockey is not considered a complete national sport. So, the players have no future and do not receive any jobs on sports quota.

She feels that Indian Ice

Hockey, especially the women’s team should get national recognition as they are representing India in the international demographics. The team has won consecutive matches on the world sports platform. But, they are not recognized as national players representing India and bringing in awards and respect for the country.

Tashi Dolker – The forward player of the team is practicing in the paradise of India – Leh. but, she finds it extremely difficult without the presence of her parents beside her. She is not even
