Wall of kindness, an act to help the needful! Numerous people desire to contribute to kindness. Some wish to help the needy anonymously by donating their clean old clothes, shoes, woolen wear, etc. And few require these needful items. To make it easier an initiative “Neki ki Deewar” was started. Now Neki ki Deewar can be seen in almost every city of India. The kind initiative aims to provide a platform where people can donate or take the items required. People who want to donate items such as clothes, food, and shoes can do so for the needy. Those in need may take the items from the wall whenever they want.
Amid a harsh winter and a new Covid wave, 300 government schools have been chosen for a pilot project to encourage “Good Samaritan” behavior by erecting “Kindness Walls”. Under this initiative, outer boundary walls of 300 government schools will be painted with a red background with hands pointing upwards on them. The walls will have an adequate number of hooks so that people desirous of donating clothes can hang them there and the needy can take away the desired item whenever required.
Setting a good example for children
The initiative was limited to schools with road-facing walls. The concept of the wall declares that many people want to contribute to Kind things, but requires assistance in getting it to those who need it. People can encourage the spirit of anonymous giving by setting a good example for their children. Anyone who wishes to donate an item, such as clean woolen or other clothing, shoes, food, or other items, may do so by hanging it on the wall, and those in need may take it at any time. The schools have been directed that this should be “promoted as an anonymous giving and receiving initiative where the receiver’s dignity is always upheld.”
