In Mauritius, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently unveiled a series of projects. India will aid its neighbour with the implementation of these projects. PM Modi and his Mauritian counterpart, Pravind Jugnauth, unveiled the projects virtually.
Project Descriptions
• College For Civil Services
• Solar Photovoltaic Farm with an output of 8 MW. On the sidelines of the COP26 meeting in Glasgow in 2021, this was launched. India hopes to demonstrate to the rest of the world how beneficial solar energy cooperation can be. The project will result in lower carbon emissions and lower energy prices. The Worldwide Solar Alliance, which was founded in 2018, is the foundation for international cooperation in solar energy.

Metro Express Project
Mauritius will receive assistance from India in implementing the Metro Express Project. For this, India has provided a 190 million dollar line of credit. The Mauritius government plans to name one of the stations after “Mahatma Gandhi” in recognition of India’s financial aid in the project’s implementation.
India inaugurated the metro project, as well as the Supreme Court building and the ENT hospital. On a daily basis, the metro transports 5.6 million people. The credit line will be used to expand the metro system.
Background
In terms of culture, maritime, ancestry, and language, India and Mauritius are inseparable. Under the Maitri initiative, Mauritius was one of the first countries to get vaccine from India. More than three-quarters of Mauritius’ population is now immunized.
Project for Social Housing
Mauritius received assistance from India in the construction of affordable houses. The project has now been successfully completed. The initiative demonstrates how Indian projects in other nations are rapidly growing and developing.
