Pandit Jasraj Cultural Foundation was established on January 28, 2022, to commemorate the 92nd birthday of late Indian classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj.

Pandit Jasraj Cultural Foundation

Shaarang Dev Pandit, Pandit Jasraj’s son, and Durga Jasraj, Pandit Jasraj’s daughter, formed the Pandit Jasraj Cultural Foundation. The National Heritage, Art, and Culture of India Foundation was established with the goal of safeguarding, preserving, developing, and promoting India’s national heritage, art, and culture.

Who was Pandit Jasraj?

Pandit Jasraj was a classical vocalist from India. He was a the member of the Mewati gharana .
His musical career spanned 75 years, earning him national and international acclaim, respect, and numerous prizes. Pandit Jasraj’s legacy includes memorable classical and semi-classical voice performances, devotional and classical music, CDs, and film soundtracks. He’s also noted for bringing new genres to the fore, like as Haveli Sangeeth and popularising Mewati Gharana. In India, Canada, the United States, and Europe, Pandit Jasraj taught music to professionals, beginners, and students. On August 17, 2020, he died in New Jersey.

The Mewati gharana

Jodhpur gharana, Jaipur-Mewati gharana, and Miyan Bande Ali Khan Beenkar gharana are all names for the Mewati Gharana. It is an Indian classical music musical apprenticeship clan. It is well-known for being the musical lineage of Pandit Jasraj. Utd. Wahid Khan (beenkar) and Utd. Ghagge Nazir Khan of Indore created this gharana.
