Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and the Indian Army inked a deal for the manufacturing and supply of Konkurs-M anti-tank guided missiles on February 3, 2022, valued Rs 3,131.82 crore.
Who makes Konkurs-M and where does it come from?
BDL manufactures the Konkurs-M anti-tank guided missiles under a licence agreement with the Russian Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). The missile has been indigenized to the fullest extent possible. BDL also has Konkurs-M missiles available for export to friendly foreign governments.
Concerning Konkurs-M
The Konkurs-M is a mechanised infantry anti-tank guided missile in its second generation. It’s designed to take out armoured vehicles that have explosive reactive armour. Missiles can be launched from a ground launcher or from a BMP-II tank. Its range is from 75 to 4000 metres. At ranges of 75 to 4,000 metres, the missile is designed to combat modern tanks equipped with light armoured vehicles, ERA, fortifications, and engineer constructions. It may be used in both daylight and dark environments. Combat assets, training aids, and maintenance facilities make up the ATGM system.
