A homegrown FMCG and Ayurveda products manufacturer company, Dabur has announced that it has achieved 100% ‘Plastic Waste Neutral’ status in India. Dabur claims to be the first Indian consumer goods company to achieve this status. In the year 2021-22, Dabur collected, processed, and recycled over 27,000 MT of post-consumer plastic waste from throughout India, according to a release by the company.
Plastic Waste Management
Dabur launched a plastic waste management initiative in the year 2017-18. It has collected approximately 54,000 MT of plastic garbage (recyclable and non-recyclable) directly from end-users with the aid of local rag pickers in 150 locations throughout India as part of this program.
Dabur has also been working with school children in small towns and villages as part of this commitment. Under this initiative, they educate the school children about different forms of garbage and the benefits of sorting them at the source.
First Plastic Waste Neutral Company
According to a statement, “Dabur has thereby become the first Indian consumer products manufacturer to reach this milestone. Dabur now collects, processes, and recycles the same amount of plastic trash that it sells in its product packaging every year, making it a “Plastic Waste Neutral” company “.
Dabur India Executive Director-Operations Shahrukh A Khan said, “It is a matter of great pleasure for the Dabur family, who have fought to not only collect plastic garbage from our cities, towns, and villages, but also to prevent it from reaching our landfills and seas.”
