GOVERNMENT INTRODUCES ‘GREEN FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM’, AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE 75,000 PER MONTH

To actively indulge the youngsters in initiatives for climate change adaptation and mitigation actions, the Tamil Nadu government has introduced a Green Fellowship program. The Green Fellowship Program will begin in 38 districts of the country. The initiative has been given a budget of Rs. 6 crores by the government.

The mission of the program is to involve youngsters in the development and implementation of environmental policies. They’ll keep track of and assess the results, as well as convey the policy’s influence and provide superior service.

Benefits of the program

A two-year Chief Minister’s Green Fellowship Program is now accepting applications. In this context, Additional Chief Secretary Supriya Sahu issued a G.O. A total of 40 green fellows will be appointed for the program. It will be a two-year full-time commitment starting on the day you join, with monthly compensation of 60,000 and a travel allowance of 15,000 dollars. They will be given a laptop as well as an internet dongle.

Criteria for the fellowship program

The candidate must be under 30 years old. In case the applicant belongs to SC/ST category the cut-off age would be 35 years old. Postgraduate degree holders, especially in life and environmental sciences/MBA with a 60 percent score, and degree holders in any subject with a minimum of two years work experience are eligible to apply for the program. It is mandatory to know the Tamil language for preference. Candidates can apply online for the Green Fellowship Program. For an interview, they will be chosen from a pool of candidates.

Each district to have one fellow, and states to have two

Each district will have one Fellow, and the state will have two, to help district administrations on any issues that fall under the Department of Environment, Climate Change, and Forests’ jurisdiction.
