To make International Women’s day a little more special, Hyderabad Police organized a Gender Equality Run for the women. Hundreds of women, including working professionals, housewives, and students, took part in the ‘Gender Equality Run’. The event was organized by the Hyderabad City Police’s SHE Teams on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
Gender Equality run
SHE teams have organized the Gender Equality run in two categories- 2K and 5K run. Both the runs were organized following the theme “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow.”
The 2K and 5K runs were officially flagged off by Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and Education Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy.
“One of the best and safest places for women”
The Minister remarked while praising the efforts of SHE teams and stated that Hyderabad is one of the best and safest places to live for women. The minister said, “Hyderabad is the best city to live in India. Further, he stated, “One of the biggest reasons for it is because women feel safe and secure here.”
Female SHO announced at the ‘Gender Equality Run’ event
Surprisingly, there were no female SHOs in the city. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police CV Anand stated that a woman inspector will be assigned as the SHO in all Law and Order police stations across the city.
“Eighty women sub-inspectors (SIs) have recently reported to the Hyderabad City Police, We’re happy to provide them training and appoint them to key positions.” Anand remarked at a 2k/5k run event organized by SHE Teams of Hyderabad City Police. Further he stated “It’s a day to recognise the importance of women who are contributing greatly to all major sectors while handling the family responsibilities too.
