G20 TROIKA: INDIA TO ASSUME G20 PRESIDENCY

India has recently joined the G20 Troika. The troika includes Indonesia, Italy, and India. India has begun the process of assuming the G20 presidency the following year with this move.
This year’s G20 summit has already been organized by Italy. Whereas, Indonesia will host the event next year, in 2022. Simultaneously, in 2023, India will host the G20 summit.
Many Presidents and Prime Ministers from around the world attended the G20 summit organized in Italy. Along with these ministers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attended this conference.

India joins Troika
India will be a member of the G20 troika from 1st December 2021 to 30th November 2024. Every year a member country assumes the presidency. The country works in collaboration with the previous year’s president country and the next year’s president country. This process is known as the Troika. The Troika ensures the consistency of the group’s agenda.

Brings Together Leading Economies
The G20 brings together the world’s leading economies and the European Union. The member nation of G20 represents 80% of global GDP, 75% of global trade. Along with it, it also represents 60% of the global population.

G20 Summit 2023
The G20 summit will be held at Pragati Maidan, Delhi in 2023. Pragati Maidan is being rebuilt from the ground up for this purpose. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been representing India at the G20 since 2014.

Premier Forum for International Economic Cooperation
According to the MEA, the G20 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation, reflecting a recognition that global prosperity is interdependent and that economic opportunities and challenges are intertwined. G20 does not have a permanent secretariat or Headquarters.

G20 and India
As a founding member of the G20, India has used the forum to address critical issues affecting the world’s most vulnerable people. The global economic agenda-making forum will be presided over by India in 2022. It will be both a challenge and an opportunity for India to strengthen its presence in the international arena.

Countries G20 includes
The member nation of G20 includes Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, France, Indonesia, Italy, India, Japan, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union.
