FIRST WOMEN POLICE STATION INAUGURATED IN JAMMU KASHMIR’S UDHAMPUR

  • The first women’s police station was inaugurated by the Director-General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh.
  • Women’s Police Stations will allow women to come out more freely to report a crime.

In a recent event, Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district has got its first women’s police station. The first women’s police station was inaugurated by the Director-General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh. The DGP after inaugurating the Women Police Station said, “The motive behind opening the women’s police station is to provide a better environment to women.”

Separate Women Police Station

The DGP further stated that establishing separate Women Police Stations will allow women in the various districts to come out more freely to report crime since they will be able to vent their grievances more comfortably.

“Crime against women has been addressed seriously, and the Women Police Station has been opened, where victims of crime will be dealt with by women officers/officials,” the DGP said in a statement.

Many instances do not make it to the police station

There are many incidents of women who do not report to the police station. Women do not feel safe coming to the police station. They hesitate; as a result, they keep their suffering to themselves. But now, women will no longer be afraid to visit the women’s police station. She will be able to easily explain her point to the women officers in the police station.

The DGP said, there will be female officers and female staff in this police station. This will provide an opportunity for the females to speak freely in front of them. Women should not keep silent in the face of any crime. If something wrong is occurring to them, they directly visit the police station and register a report right away.

Women Police Station inauguration

According to the DGP, women police stations have been established at all range levels in Jammu & Kashmir. DGP Dilbag Singh was accompanied at the inauguration ceremony by Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), M.K Sinha, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), and the Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur, Indu Kanwal Chib.
