EMPLOYMENT RATE RISING IN INDIA: EPFO ADDS 14.6 LAKH NEW MEMBERS IN DECEMBER 2021

Employment rate has once again begun to rise in India. Recently, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization released the provisional payroll data. As per the data, EPFO have gained around 14.60 lakh additional members by December 2021. This is a 16.40% increase over December 2020. EPFO has 19.98% more members in December 2021 than in November 2021. 12.17 lakh persons were joined in November.

New members of EPFO

9.11 lakh new members joined EPF for the first time out of the total 14.60 lakh net members. At the same time, 5.49 lakh such people associated with it in December, who had earlier left EPF due to some reasons. In terms of new members, Maharashtra and Haryana are ahead. During the month, Maharashtra, Haryana, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka added around 8.97 lakh subscribers. This equates to around 61.44 percent of total net payroll. In terms of gender, there are 3 lakhs of female customers.

EPFO has 3.88 lakh members between the ages of 22 and 25

EPFO have 3.88 lakh members between the ages of 22 and 25 according to the payroll data. Following that, 2.97 lakh customers are between the ages of 18 and 21. This reveals that 46.89 % of those who joined in December were between the ages of 18 and 25.

On an average, 7 Lakh new members join EPFO

Every month, an average of 7 lakh new members join EPFO. In the year 2020-21, around 77.08 lakh new members joined the EPFO. According to data released by EPFO, 78.58 lakh new members joined EPFO in the year 2019-20. Previously, in 2018-19, this figure was near to 61.12 lakh.
