One of the well-known NGOs, the Akshaya Patra Foundation collaborated with NTT limited to strengthen its mission of providing students with quality education and positively impacting the lives of impoverished children. To commemorate the beginning of the organization’s Digital Education Initiative, 235 students were given Android tablets from Government Girls High School and Government Girls PUC.
Aim to bridge the digital divide
With the support of corporate donors and BYJUs, Akshaya Patra has launched an initiative to bridge the digital divide and promote digital inclusion by offering free access to high-quality, contemporary education to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. NTT Ltd is largely focused on initiatives in the areas of Education, Health and Hygiene, Skill Development, and Women Empowerment as part of its CSR effort.
Initiative to support students in digital education
NTT aims to encourage competency-based learning while concentrating on inclusivity and contributing to the government’s goal of Digital India. BYJU’s learning application is pre-installed on each tablet, ensuring that students have access to high-quality, tech-driven learning programs. The tablets were given to students in classes 8 to 12, giving them access to JEE, NEET, and Karnataka CCT preparation materials.
Collaborated for the noble cause
To express his gratitude, Sundeep Talwar, CMO of The Akshaya Patra Foundation, stated “Our goal that, no kid in India should be deprived of education because of hunger is in direct accord with our conviction that education is the only way to create a joyful future for this country,”. Further, he said, “We firmly believe that no child should be left behind because of a lack of access to the Internet or appropriate technology. NTT Ltd has been a tremendous supporter of our ‘Digital Education Programme’. Their support enables us to do more and bring about significant change in the lives of the children.”
Supporting senior secondary students as well
Akshaya Patra also intends to support senior secondary students who are preparing for competitive entrance exams in engineering and medical. It’s collaborating with teachers to help these students offer well-researched academic content. Selected students will have internet access for two years as part of this initiative to support their studies.
BYJU’s digital academic content will be geared toward students in grades 9 through 12 by giving them access to study materials for courses such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, social science, and commerce.
It would also provide students access to study materials for competitive examinations like the NEET, JEE, and Karnataka CET. The information would be offered in all vernacular languages, with a focus on the ICSE and CBSE boards, as well as other state boards like Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Telangana, and West Bengal.
