Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur, a significant figure in Bihar politics, has been posthumously honored with the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian award, on the eve of his birth anniversary.

Karpoori Thakur was born on January 24, 1924, in a village in Samistupur district. The village was later renamed ‘Karpuri Gram’ in his honor.
