NDHM LAUNCHED DIGITAL HEALTH ID CARD

The Central Government has taken another step to strengthen the nation’s health sector. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, ABDM on Monday, September 27, 2021. The newly launched Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will include a unique health ID. The main objective of this mission is to digitize healthcare in India. This Aadhaar-like digital health ID will be free for every Indian.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said- ‘Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, will now connect the digital health solutions of hospitals across the country with each other. The Mission will not only make the processes of hospitals simplified but also will increase ease of living, he added.

What is unique health ID card?

To join the ABDM, a person must first create a health ID, which is a 14-digit number generated at random. Only with the beneficiary’s informed consent, the ID will be used for three purposes: unique identification, authentication, and threading of the beneficiary’s health records across multiple systems and stakeholders.

How can a health card be made?

Unique health ID can be obtained through self-registration on the portal or by downloading the ABMD Health Records app. Furthermore, one can request the creation of a health ID at any participating health facility in India. This health facility may include government or private hospitals, community health centers, and government wellness centers.

Is it safe to use?

According to the NHA, ABDM does not keep any of the health records of the beneficiaries. The data are maintained by healthcare information providers according to their retention policies and are only shared over the ABDM network with encryption mechanisms with the beneficiary’s express consent.

This unique card will digitally strengthen the health infrastructure of the country. Along with this, it will also help strengthen the economic development of India.

Benefits of Unique Health ID

In this unique health ID, all the medical history of the patient will be available digitally. Now, the patient will not need to carry all his medical reports like before. It will keep updating automatically every time one visits a doctor. Not only this, from this unique card, the medical data of the patient concerned in any city of the country be extracted.
