On August 16, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy paid a visit to Hyderabad’s Genome Valley’s National Animal Resource Facility for Biomedical Research (NARFBR), which is being developed as a testing facility for numerous vaccines and medications in India and around the world.
The Union Minister inquired about the status of the works in conversation with the relevant officials and scientists. He claimed that the central government had made the decision to create this centre after realising the importance of creating a special research facility with cutting-edge equipment for the creation of amenities needed for human and animal health in India.
He revealed that construction programmes for research and other needs are being completed with an area of approximately 4 lakh square feet at a cost of Rs 400 crore, and that nearly 60% of the equipment and missionaries have arrived. He stated that the rest of the facilities will be improved in the coming days, and that drug manufacturing, vaccine manufacturing, and other research organisations from India and abroad may be able to test their products here.
One vaccine testing centre in Himachal Pradesh
He stated that there is only one vaccine testing centre in Himachal Pradesh, India, and that due to the growing number of pharmaceutical and other research companies in the surrounding area, the central government has decided to establish a similar centre here as well. He stated that the Central Cabinet gave its approval in 2014-15.
According to Reddy, it is very useful for university students’ research as well as for animal conservation. He believes that this will be crucial in the field of biomedical research in the coming years. He stated that medical colleges, educational institutions, universities, biotech and biopharma companies will no longer need to travel abroad for research because all facilities will be available here.
