The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers is hosting the Janaushadhi Diwas from March 1 to 7, 2022. The 4th Jan Aushadhi Diwas will be held on March 7th, and the Indian government has set a goal of increasing the number of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) to 10,500 by the end of March 2025.

The Janaushadhi Diwas Week has a specific goal
This week’s goal is to promote awareness about the Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana’s benefits and the use of generic medicines.
Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP)
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers introduced the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) in 2008 with the goal of making quality generic pharmaceuticals affordable to all. This programme also aimed to improve public knowledge about the use of generic medications in the country. A public programme involving the government, private sector, PSUs, Societies, NGOs, Co-operative Bodies, and others was also launched.
The total number of stores participating in this programme has grown to 8675 as of January 2022. 240 surgical tools and 1451 medicines are among the PMBJP’s product offerings. Malt-based dietary supplements, protein powder, immunity bars, protein bars, masks, sanitizers, oximeters, glucometers, and other nutraceuticals items and treatments have also been introduced. At Chennai, Gurugram, and
Guwahati, three IT-enabled PMBJP warehouses are operational, with a fourth planned to open in Surat. In addition, 39 distributors have been designated to assist in the supply of medicines to rural and isolated areas around the country.
