PM JANMAN scheme: Tribal people became healthy and happy

The Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) is a significant initiative by the Indian government to enhance the socio-economic conditions of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). Let’s delve into the details of this scheme:

2. Awareness Campaign: A comprehensive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign has been launched to make PVTGs aware of their entitlements. During this campaign, essential documents like Aadhar Cards, Community Certificates, and Jan Dhan Accounts are provided, enabling access to other schemes such as Ayushman Card, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, and Kisan Credit Card.
3. Coverage Expansion: The campaign aims to reach every PVTGs household, even those previously unreached due to distance, lack of road connectivity, and digital access. Various community centers, including Haat Bazar, CSC, Gram Panchayat, Anganwadi, Multipurpose Centre, Vandhan Vikas Kendras, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras, are utilized for organizing these events.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Beneficiary Selection: Beneficiaries are chosen based on housing deprivation criteria outlined in the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) 2011 data. Specifically, households without housing or residing in structures with 0, 1, or 2 kutcha walls and kutcha roofs are prioritized for inclusion in the scheme.
2. Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs): All citizens belonging to PVTGs are eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme. Economically weak citizens within these groups are also eligible for various benefits under PM-JANMAN.

Budget Allocation

An allocation of Rs. 15,000 crore has been earmarked for the next three years under the Development Action Plan for the Scheduled Tribes (DAPST) to implement this mission.

Implementation

1. Phase I: The campaign has started initially in 100 districts, covering approximately 500 blocks and 15,000 PVTGs habitations across 18 states and the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
2. Phase II: In the next phase, it will cover the remaining districts.
