On the occasion of Dhirubhai Ambani’s 90th birthday, Reliance Foundation has announced 5000 undergraduate and 100 graduate scholarships for the academic year 2022-23. Over the next ten years, the Foundation will also award 50,000 scholarships to Indian students pursuing higher education.
For over 25 years, Reliance has provided scholarships to deserving students, inspired by Reliance Founder-Chairman Shri Dhirubhai Ambani’s belief that investing in the nation’s youth is the best way to ensure its progress. Reliance Foundation scholarship programmes have impacted the lives of 13,000 Indian youth over the years.
Reliance has encouraged and supported meritorious students to pursue higher education and nurtured them to become young professionals since the establishment of the Dhirubhai Ambani Scholarship (DAS) in 1996. Many of these scholars have gone on to further their education at prestigious institutions such as IITs and IIMs in India. DAS has provided scholars with a stepping stone to upward mobility through increased confidence, access to enhanced educational opportunities, and increased earning capacity, as well as the ability to contribute to their families financial well-being. DAS graduates have gone on to hold positions of leadership in their communities and workplaces, as well as jobs at prestigious organisations in India and abroad.
In 2020, the Reliance Foundation will launch the ‘Reliance Foundation Scholarships in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Sciences’ to make a greater impact in the fields of frontier sciences and engineering that are shaping India’s future.
In 2022, Reliance Foundation pledged to support an additional 50,000 students with scholarships over the next ten years, aiming to nurture talented youth from across the country who have the potential to drive the nation’s future success for social good.
According to a press release issued by the Foundation, the Foundation will award up to 5,000 merit-based undergraduate scholarships of up to Rs. 2 lakh and up to 100 merit-based postgraduate scholarships of up to Rs. 6 lakh for the academic year 2022-23. Scholarship applications will be accepted until February 14, 2023.
In 2022-2023, the Reliance Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships will support up to 5,000 meritorious undergraduate students from underprivileged sections of society studying any stream of their choice, and the Reliance Foundation Postgraduate Scholarships will support 100 of India’s brightest postgraduate students studying eligible
subjects in new technologies.
Both Reliance Foundation Scholarships will aim to nurture and empower deserving students while also collaborating to build robust, vibrant, and engaged alumni networks, allowing scholars to pursue higher education, emerge as young professionals, and drive India’s growth.
Along with the scholarship, the Foundation will provide the scholars with the opportunity to be part of an alumni network and an enabling support system.
Students enrolled in their first year of a UG or PG programme with a household income of less than Rs 15 lakh are eligible to apply. The programme will also encourage applications from females and students with special needs.
According to the press release, students studying Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics & Computing, Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable & New Energy, Material Science & Engineering, and Life Sciences will be chosen on merit.
