The district administration inaugurated ‘Polaam Right,’ a weekly program to motivate government school students. The initiative aims to encourage the government school students by taking them to city-based higher education institutions and helping them to get a glimpse of the opportunities ahead. The initiative will provide students a taste of the educational options available to them when they complete Class XII.

Field trip with the district collector

For roughly 100 Class XI students from ten government schools in the district, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to converse over coffee and go on a field trip with District Collector G.S. Sameeran, rather than their teachers or headmasters.

The atmosphere at the Collectorate’s conference hall, where serious discussions with officials typically take place, had an air of humor and informality following the district administration’s launch of the ‘Polaam Right’ project. Around 50 children asked Mr. Sameeran a range of questions, which he answered with a grin while sipping coffee and nibbling on biscuits and snacks.

‘Polaam Right’: Aims to encourage government school students

The goal of this campaign is to encourage students at government schools. Every week, government school students from the district will be taken to prominent spots in the city following an interaction.

Students visited museum

Following the hour-long discussion, the Collector of the Coimbatore district took the students to the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University’s Insect Museum. Mr. Sameeran then went to Coimbatore Medical College on Avinashi Road in the afternoon to meet the other 50 students and have lunch with them.
