On August 1, the registration process for the IIT entrance exam – JEE Advanced – began. Only candidates from foreign countries are permitted to register during the initial phase. The application and registration process for Indian students will begin shortly after the release of the JEE Main results at jeeadv.ac.in. Foreign nationals are not required to take JEE Main, which is the first leg of the JEE Advanced for Indian students.
Eligibility
Foreign national candidates who have studied or are studying at the 10+2 level or equivalent in another country at the time of registration for JEE Advanced 2022 are not required to write JEE Main 2022 and may register for JEE Advanced 2022 directly if they meet the other eligibility criteria, as per the rules.
Age is another requirement for eligibility. Candidates must have been born between October 1, 1997 and October 1, 1998. SC, ST, and PWD candidates receive a five-year age reduction. According to the rules, these candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1992.
In some IITs, up to 10% of seats are reserved for foreign nationals. These seats are supernumerary, which means they are in addition to the existing seats.
“Foreign candidates who have taken/are taking class XII in another country can register for JEE (Advanced) 2022 beginning at 15:00 IST on August 1, 2022,” according to the official notice.
Even though the application process for JEE Advanced has begun, the IITs will not be setting up any campuses abroad. The foreign national candidates, however, may appear for JEE (Advanced) 2022 examination at an Indian centre at their own expense.
