The Jhansi Library project pays homage to ancient centres of learning like the Jetavana monastery at Sravasti and Nalanda University. It seamlessly blends rich cultural heritage with forward-thinking sustainable design, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Net-Zero Vision 2070.
Designed with students’ needs in mind, the library combines ancient resources and modern techniques to create an environmentally friendly space. It utilizes natural light, advanced ventilation systems, renewable energy generation through solar panels and wind turbines, and next-generation heat pump technology. Water conservation measures and sophisticated building management systems further contribute to sustainability.
The library’s design focuses on three key aspects. Firstly, maximizing natural light to create inviting spaces. Secondly, generating 100% on-site renewable energy through solar PV panels and wind turbines. Lastly, utilizing next-generation heat pump technology for optimal cooling and heating, results in up to 85% reduced carbon emissions.
