Reliance Jio is the first operator to offer 5G services in the Delhi-NCR region. Jio launched its True 5G network on November 18 in Delhi, Faridabad, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Noida, and other major cities in the national capital region.
Jio True 5G will be available in the majority of residential areas, hospitals, schools, colleges and universities, government buildings, high streets, malls and markets, tech parks, roads, highways, and metros, as well as high-traffic areas such as tourist attractions and hotels.
A spokesperson for the company said that covering majority of the Delhi-NCR region is a matter of pride. “Jio is expanding its True-5G reach at a rapid pace and has already rolled out a large portion of the planned True-5G network in this area. It is the only operator to be present across Delhi-NCR region with True-5G services.”
Jio to launch 5G services across the country
While speaking at the IMC 2022 event on October 1, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani had announced that Jio will launch 5G services across the country by December 2023.
Users in these areas will receive an invitation to participate in the Jio Welcome Offer via the My Jio app. The company has also launched a special 5G welcome offer for all of its users, which includes unlimited data at up to 1Gbps speeds for no extra charge. Previously, Jio did not offer any dedicated 5G plans to invitees. According to media reports, Jio was only sending free 5G service invites to users with Rs 239 or higher plans.
According to the company, lakhs of Jio users in Delhi-NCR have already taken advantage of the Jio Welcome Offer. It went on to say that this was possible because of its stand-alone 5G architecture, which does not rely on existing 4G networks.
Jio also said it has the largest and best mix of 5G spectrum across 700 MHz, 3500 MHz, and 26 GHz bands. The company has particularly pointed out successful carrier aggregation also ensuring seamless service. Carrier Aggregation is an advanced technology that combines these 5G frequencies into a single robust “data highway”.
